Mid-Island Dementia Care

It seems that every day we see another article in the paper about a famous person who has been afflicted with dementia. As we age we learn of more of our friends, neighbours, or family members suffering and looking for caregivers or facilities.

What is the state of dementia care on Vancouver Island and what is being done about it?

Robert Grose has been a board member of Nanaimo Travellers Lodge (NTL) for five years. Carolyn Kavanaugh is Director of Care and Co-administrator of NTL.  At our meeting on October 3rd,  they discussed an exciting new project in Nanaimo – Eden Gardens – a world-class facility for dementia care and how they are creating a state of the art care environment to support the Eden Alternative.
