Mount Washington Experience!
On March 8th, six intrepid Probus members dutifully sunscreened, dressed in layers and challenged themselves to a day of snowshoeing at Mt.Washington. Having envisioned the lumbering designs of yesteryear were all pleasantly surprised at the design of the snowshoes: lightweight aluminium, easy to put on and off, flexible, great traction for going uphill and down. All the trails we took were well-marked and groomed. We started off on an easy trail but detoured to a somewhat more challenging one, ending up doing about 4 kilometres in total through beautiful mountain scenery. Certainly it was harder than walking but not that much harder. Over lunch in the lodge afterwards, we celebrated our survival and generally agreed that this fun day in the fresh air may well become an annual event.
Special thanks to Linda Burrows for organizing us and to our photographers: Robert Grose and Kim Rasmussen.
