Nanaimo Harbour Full Moon Tour
On September 6th, a couple members of our club were handed paddles, PDFs and asked to choose our rental kayak from the array of colourful kayaks. After a quick ‘how to’ paddle tutorial and some safety tips we followed our Alberni Outpost guides and our kayaks down to the boat ramp and then slipped into water as smooth as glass for our evening out paddling.
We enjoyed the silence and beauty of the water in the glow of the moon light as we circumnavigated Protection Island, past Newcastle Island and into Nanaimo Harbour.
A highlight of the evening was approaching the sandy beach on the east side of Protection Island where the waters became magical with phosphorescence.
