The NW Bay Probus Picnic at Brigadoon Golf Course was a wonderful success, with members enjoying a beautiful, warm, sunny day. The venue offered just the right balance of sunshine and ample shade, making it a comfortable and relaxing outing for everyone. Many thanks to Brigadoon owners Ross and Chris, for all their assistance in making the event a success.
In addition to golf (details below), members took part in a variety of fun activities, including bocce ball, cornhole toss, and a challenging trivia contest that tested everyone’s knowledge and sparked plenty of friendly competition.
The food was plentiful and delicious, and the caterers did an amazing job. A heartfelt thank you to Debbie and Byron from Up Beet Eats for a wonderful meal—it was absolutely yummy!
Special thanks to the decorating committee for creating such a welcoming atmosphere, to Al for organizing the golf, Chris for providing the music that added to the festive mood, and to the generous Probus members who provided prizes and volunteered in so many ways.
Good food, great conversation, and lots of laughter made for a great day, giving members the opportunity to catch up with friends and welcome new faces. It was another memorable social event that highlighted the friendship, fun, and camaraderie that make the NW Bay Probus Club so special.
Although we missed our hard working Social Event Co-ordinator, Christine, who was unable to attend, the 2026 golf and picnic tournament was a most enjoyable event.

The Golf event
We had 3 foursomes playing golf for the cherished trophy created by our very own artist Norm Kilarski. We played a “best ball” format whereby everyone in the foursome hits their ball from the location of the best shot off the tee each time. This speeds up play and tends to generate very competitive scores.
We also had a “closest to the pin” (KP) contest on the first hole except it was based on the location of the ball after 2 shots from tee. Indeed, that turned out to be the deciding factor in establishing the Championship Team of the year! That team got a birdie on the first hole and proceeded to shoot the low round score of 27! Hence, they won the KP contest and the Championship trophy.
The Championship team consisted of Chris Canny, John Wearing, Judy Love Eastman and Tony Eastham. The “runner-up team” shot a net tidy 28 and consisted of Brian Coolican, Phil Howell, Kim Rassmussen and Norm Kilarski. The third place team was only 2 strokes behind the second place team in what turned out to be a very competitive round of golf! That team consisted of Cathy Crozier, Joanie Miller, Al Stickney and Jim McKinlay.
The intent is for the winning team to pass the trophy around amongst their team members over the course of the year and explain its significance to their family and friends!
