President’s Message – August 2015

Robert GroseSummer is half over and the living is easy with all of the summer PROBUS activities this month. We just enjoyed our wonderful summer picnic. Many thanks to Diane and Bonnie and your Social Committee.

Volunteers have been doing extra duty again this month:

  • Aug 6: Brigadoon Golf Fun Tournament – Tom & Laurie Chow
  • 19: Appy Extravaganza at Joan Howard’s home
  • 28: Out & About: Qualicum Beach – Nine&Dine Golf Fun Day – Robert Grose
  • September 29: Out & About: Boeing Trip – Heather & Bob Popple

If you have company visiting this month they are welcome to attend our PROBUS activities as guests. If you have new neighbours, invite them to a social activity and the August or September meeting, we’d love to meet them.

We are just finishing up a six week renovation project at our house and looking forward to having everything back in place. After 6 years on the Nanaimo Travellers Lodge Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce we have broken ground on the new 130 bed Nanaimo Travellers Lodge to be called Eden Gardens. Anticipated opening is April 2017. This will be the state of the art facility for compassionate dementia care in mid-island.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and don’t forget to do your rain dances with Joan McCully’s “Rain Sticks”.
