President’s Message – August 2014

Robert Grose

What a great PROBUS month July was.

It began with Eric McLean, a wonderful speaker with delicious samples who turned us all into cheese gastronomiques! Out and About continued with 13 people joining in on a Sunset Cruise at Wall Beach. This was a great outing and an excellent example of PROBUS providing the opportunity to get out and try new things amongst the safety and companionship of other members. I hope it can be repeated sometime in the future.

The big event was one of our major social activities: the Summer Picnic. Bonnie Howell and committee created a wonderful event in Hans and Diane de Visser’s beautiful backyard. All I did was arrange for sunny weather after a rainy day. Good fun was had by all and the true nature of giving and taking by our members was demonstrated in a card-gift game after dinner. For more fun in August don’t forget to sign up for the August Appetizer Extravaganza to be held at the home of Joan Howard on August 14.

I will be away on a fishing trip for our August 1 meeting so Don Dempson has agreed to chair the meeting for me.   Continue to enjoy the summer and participate in our many PROBUS activities.
