Members of the Second Chapter book club had the opportunity recently to grill local author, Ulla Håkanson, on the process of writing, editing, and marketing her thriller The Price of Silence.

 A resident of Nanoose Bay, Ulla is an avid hiker and kayaker. Her knowledge and love of the backwoods of British Columbia is evident in the vivid pictures of the BC interior she paints in her narratives. Readers are treated to a rich and authentic backdrop to her compelling characters who move back and forth between downtown Vancouver and the lakes and woods of the BC mainland.

Ulla was frank in her discussion about the trials and tribulations of publishing. From authenticating the language and actions of her characters (friends and writing circle colleagues helped here) to finding a agent and publisher, and learning the book trade; Second Chapter members were enthralled.
