How many times have I mentioned how lucky we are to live in such a wonderful part of the country? There are so many people in BC and across the country suffering from all kinds of weather- and wildfire-related emergencies. I am sure many of you have family and friends in the affected areas, and I know I speak for everyone when I say our thoughts are with them. Thankfully, we have been much more fortunate on Vancouver Island.

The long-awaited trip to Haida Gwaii will be leaving at the end of August.  I know we shall have lots of stories to tell about this incredible area. I think I already mentioned that Don Dempson has offered to give a talk about our trip at our November meeting.  I know it will be worthwhile because he is a good story-teller and an exceptional photographer.  Please keep in mind that our September meeting has been delayed until September 8…and there might be a rather tasty surprise….

I hope you enjoy the dog days of summer and hopefully we shall see some rain in the near future. I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
