Report on September Speaker: Dr. Dick Beamish, “Pacific Salmon Sequel – Coho, Chinook and Steelhead”

The presentation was advertised as riveting and Dr. Beamish delivered! You could have heard the proverbial pin drop during his absorbing information on fish, specifically Chinook, Coho, and Steelhead. Using data and research, Dick explained the trends, gaps, and unanswered questions related to fish, their abundance; their survival; their futures and the rivers and oceans that support them.

Of particular interest was the comparison of local rivers such as the Cowichan, Fraser, and South Thompson for their part in the abundance and survival of species of salmon. Facts, mysteries, and conundrums …. all shared by this learned, candid and entertaining scientist.
