New Health Centre in Focus

Oceanside Health Centre OpeningSherry Coutts, Project Manager for the new Oceanside Health Centre (OHC), outlined their services and the philosophy behind them at our November 2013 meeting.

A graduate of the faculty of pharmacy at UBC with a B.Sc in Pharmacy, Sherry then completed a one year hospital residency in clinical pharmacy at the University Hospital – UBC. She furthered her education with a Healthcare Leadership Certification from BCIT and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Victoria.

She has held multiple leadership roles within the pharmacy departments at various acute care hospitals and her more recent project work has focused on the implementation of clinical technology (e.g. electronic health record and medication safety) in all care settings (acute, community and residential). She joined Sheila Cruikshank, Director until mid October, on the OHC project in December 2012 meeting.

The patient-centered philosophy of the centre is reflected in not only the services but the facility itself.  Primary and community-based healthcare practitioners work together as one team to provide more expedient services to their clients.
