Mount Washington Day Trip

View from the mountain

On Thursday August 9, join us for an out-&-about day trip to Mt. Washington.  We’ll take the chairlift up the mountain to see the 360-degree vistas and have a picnic lunch atop the mountain.  After lunch, we’ll drive for 10 minutes to the Paradise Meadows trailhead in Strathcona Provincial Park where we’ll walk on the well-groomed pathways along the valley floor.

From the trailhead, there are a variety of trail options depending upon how far you would like to walk.  The area is tranquil and beautiful, and the trails are pretty flat with only the odd gentle slope.  Good portions of the paths are boardwalks to cross the boggy valley floor and make walking easy.  Signs along the way identify various flora you’ll encounter.

Options for walks are:

  • 2 km loop – gentle, mostly flat
  • 3.4 km loop – easy, mostly flat
  • The 3.4 km loop above plus up to another 3.4 km, depending upon how far you’d like to walk

Please bring a picnic lunch, chairlift fee (Seniors – $16.80; Adults – $22.05) and, since we’re carpooling, a contribution for gas if you’re not driving.

We’ll leave from Nanoose Place at 9:30 am and return between 3:00 and 4:00 pm.  The trip between Nanoose and Mt. Washington takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Organizer – Joan Ethier

Please indicate if you would like to carpool, and if you are a driver or a passenger.
