Report on Annual Dim Sum Luncheon – February 14, 2026

Celebrating The Year of the Fire Horse at the Shanghai City Restaurant in Nanaimo.

This is at least the seventh year that we have celebrated the lunar new year in style!

We had the ideal number of attendees, 24, which fit beautifully in our private room. Most importantly, this number also worked well with the 12 different menu items that were pre-ordered; other than the sticky rice wrap and vegetables, each item came with 2, 4, or 6 individual pieces (all divisible into 24). My analytical brain really loved this!

The consensus was, the food was the very best this year. It was always hot. The large tea servings were always refilled, and the service was very friendly and charming. Because it was on Valentine’s Day, there was some chocolate involved at the end!

One of our members has offered to help and work with me so that we can do this again next year.

If a small group of people would like to try dim sum I am always willing to go for a treat on a Saturday or Sunday. Let me know. So get yourself organized and I can help with the ordering.

Gung hay fat choy for 2026
