Sharon Seibt was the host for the September meeting of our For Peat’s Sake Whisky Club.
As we have found at many previous meetings, one of the scotches was favoured over the other.
The preferred drop was: Benriach 10 yr old Curiositas – 46 % – 700ml- $64 AB, $75 BC
Everyone liked the wonderful peaty nose and the sweet peaty, vanilla notes with a slow burn from the 46% alcohol A great cool weather scotch that went on several Christmas wish lists.
The second: Kilchoman Machir Bay – 46% – 700ml $75 AB
This was a less peaty, flatter tasting scotch. All felt the Benriach was much better tasting and better value.
The group is planning a trip to Shelter Point Distillery in Courtney on Sunday 4 October and all PROBUS members are welcome. While their single malt is quietly distilling in barrels, aging to perfection, they do have a triple distilled, Still Master vodka available to taste and purchase. We’ll carpool to arrive at the distillery at 12noon, lunch in a local restaurant will follow the tour. Complete the following form to tell Robert you’d like to go (or sign up at the October meeting).
