President’s Message – September 2019

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and a new school year is about to begin. Thanks to Joanie and her helpers, our summer social events were a great success. It threatened to rain the day of the picnic but the Gods were with us and good weather prevailed. Brigadoon proved to be a good venue for the picnic as there was plenty of space to play some games, to golf, to mingle and to eat. The food was excellent and it was great to see so many of our members enjoying each other’s company.

The annual appie party was also lots of fun with good food, drink and lively conversation. A big thank you to Pat Scholtz for hosting the party at her lovely house. Al tried to keep the wasps at bay with 3 wasp traps but I guess we and the food were just too tempting to keep them completely away.

I’m now looking forward to the Okanagan wine tour that Don Dempson and Lynne Hannay have been busy organizing. It should be a lot of fun and provide some good wine buying opportunities.

I hope to see you at our meeting on Sept 6th when our speaker will be Dr Hannah Wilson talking about the weather patterns of Eastern Vancouver Island.
