President’s Message – July 2020

It is Canada Day as I write this brief message for the July 2020 e-News. I hope you are enjoying our respectable weather and celebrating our good fortune to live in this part of the world.

The Dominion of Canada was formed in 1867 with a union of the colonies of Canada (Ontario and Quebec) with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Canada has changed dramatically over the intervening years as generations of citizens have molded our country into what it is today.

A friend of ours sent us a list of thoughts that we should consider in our mature stage of life. One particular suggestion caught my attention because of what our young people are telling us today in the streets and on social media.

The thought suggests:

  • we respect the younger generation and their opinions.
  • they may not have the same ideals as you, but they are our future and they will take the world in their direction.
  • give advice when the occasion presents itself and try to remind them that the lessons from history and the wisdom gained may still apply today.
