President’s Message – February 2018

I’d like to present you with three items of interest this month and I’m happy to say all of them are positive! One has to do with the financial health our Club; another is the Social aspect.  Thirdly, we’ll be telling you about our Management Committee members.

As you may have noted when the Club’s 2017 financial statements were presented last December, we have a reserve fund of $7,473.69. Thanks to prudent management from previous management teams, this fund has been growing over the years. Since we’re a non- profit social club however, the Management Committee decided that this fund exceeds our contingency needs. As a result, the Committee agreed that we retain a reserve fund of approximately $4,000. The remainder will be used over the next few years to provide a larger than usual subsidy for some of our wonderful social events.

I’m delighted to announce that we have some very talented people coming on to our new Social Committee. Joanie Miller has graciously agreed to be a Member at Large and will join the Management Committee acting as the liaison between the Social Committee and Management.  Anne Ward and Joanie have both agreed to assist with social functions. Pat Scholz will continue to organize the Ladies lunches and assist with social functions.  They will still need help from others from time-to-time planning and assisting with some of our events.

The Management Committee agreed that a member of the Committee will be profiled each month in an issue of the eNews.  Last month I told you something about myself. This month, I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading all about our Speaker Chair, Robert Grose.
