President’s Message – May 2021

Regarding some recent activities of our Probus Club, we held our second golf outing of the year at Fairwinds on April 15. We had 20 golfers and if you can belief it, Peter Huber shot a 36 on the front nine.

Reportedly there were witnesses to back up his claim. Congratulations Peter! Our next golf outing is set for Tuesday, May 18 at the Morningstar Golf Club starting at 2 pm.

Bea Kolodziej has undertaken a special project for our club to determine how best to enhance our communications documentation software. In particular, she has examined the new Wild Apricot communications software package and concluded it is not particularly suitable for us. Rather, Bea has recommended that we upgrade our WordPress software to a business platform and ultimately adopt MailChimp rather than stay with Constant Contact. These changes will help us to communicate with our Members in these times of virtual engagements. While this subject is well beyond my pay grade, Bea will keep us advised as their work progresses. A big “THANK YOU” to Bea and her team!

I am reminded at this time of year with respect to April being the month when we acknowledge the need to raise funds during the Kids for Cancer campaigns. The enclosed photo shows our 2 grandsons, Sam and Calum, after having their heads shaved for a fund raiser at their school. This was the first year that the younger Calum joined his older brother. While he was nervous at first, you can see he was proud of his accomplishment in the end.

Best regards,

Al MacDonald
President
