PROBUS Hikers enjoy Biggs Park-Jacks Point hike near Duke Point-May 7
Seven Probus members met at Duke Point for a 5km hike in brilliant sunshine. This hike was an absolute delight. Fabulous scenery of the Nanaimo estuary looking across to Downtown Nanaimo, Arbutus and Gary Oak trees, oyster encrusted shorelines, wildflowers at Jack Point. It is just the right distance and with dilly-dallying along the way, about a two hour hike. Vivian and Richard took their dog to prove it was dog friendly. Robert ended up with a piece of driftwood for the garden – carried 2.5 K back to the car.
Recommend this as an excellent hike to take friends visiting the city. Only caution is there are several stairs to climb, so no sore knees.
Next hiking date: Saturday, June 25 – Details to follow
