Northwest Bay PROBUS | Oktoberfest in QB|
On Friday the 13th, eight hardy members of our club attended the first annual Oktoberfest in Qualicum Beach, hosted by the QB Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of QB.
Our ticket price included a commemorative beer mug and first fill, from a selection of beers supplied by two local micro-breweries, Longwood Brewery and Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company. We were entertained by the lively Oom Pah Pah band and the strangely dressed patrons roaming about the German-style beer hall in dirndls and lederhosen, as we sipped away on our beer(s) and munched on our bratwursts and yummy Bavarian pretzels.
Later in the evening the rock & roll band really got the party hopping; there is nothing like a contest and prizes to get people up a doing an energetic chicken dance. There were door prizes and in-house raffles, like a fridge full-o-beer and a trip to Germany.
We all agreed, this was great fun and a must attend again in 2018!
