Spring has arrived! The buds, aching to burst, are just waiting for a little heat. Easter is just around the corner and thoughts of being back on the water, of hiking and of barbeques on the deck are closer to reality than thinking about cold and snow – whew, I think we may have made it!
March kicked off with another exceptional presentation, this one from Makenzie Leine who told us about Island Timberlands. Confident, humorous and very informative she left us with the promise of a tour through our local forests. The tour is planned for early June – more about that at the meeting.
On March 5th, our members enjoyed a competitive and fun day on the lanes when they went bowling. Our ladies and men’s lunches have become a great way to spend time with friends and to debate everything from sports to politics and from travel destinations to books. Later in the month we went to the Chemainus Theatre for a wonderful performance of Pride and Prejudice. What can you say about live theatre but – brilliant!
Be sure to come and hear our April speaker, Janice Perrino, from the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation. Upcoming Out & Abouts include another couple of lunches for both men and women, a tour of Coyote Coffee on April 21st and, on April 26th, we’re planning a Tsawwassen Mills Shopping Excursion. Our special interest clubs continue to thrive and with the longer days watch for the re-introduction of our golf adventures. Always a favourite, it brings golfers of all levels out for some fun on the links at a variety of clubs in the Oceanside area.
March was PROBUS month in Canada. It was all about introducing new people to fun and the camaraderie of PROBUS. Over the last year, our club has added 27 new members and more are showing a strong interest in joining every month. This is wonderful; it shows how proud you are of the Club and demonstrates that we are providing exceptional value, education, entertainment and options for all members. Thank you. Continue to spread the word and don’t miss a meeting. There’s so much happening and our success is dependent on your participation.
