President’s Message – January 2017

PRESIDENT’s MESSAGE, January 2017

Whew…..  we made it through the Holiday Season and despite the unusually frigid cold weather and lingering snow, it was another memorable time to be with family and friends and be thankful.

December began with our great Christmas party and it was another special occasion to celebrate.  Fairwinds put on a fabulous meal for us but it was the work of Norm Kilarski, Kim Rasmussen, Robert Grose, Phil Howell and the rest of the party team that needs to be thanked for delivering above and beyond expectations.  The commentary and jokes added to the entertainment but it was the fact that we still had a full dance floor at 10 PM that was most notable!

The emergence of 2017 comes with promise of excitement, new experiences and more great speakers and events for our club.  Everything commences on January 6 with our speaker Barb Ashmead.  Now if you love dogs and how they can help people – you’ll love this talk.  Ashmead is from Vancouver Island’s Compassion Dogs Society.

And looking forward, we have some outings in the works that include both outside as well as inside opportunities for everyone.   So don’t think we’re hibernating – we’ve got out-and-abouts and special interest programs that are going to keep you busy.

I’d also like to take a moment to recognize and welcome our newest Life Member – Mary Crist.  Crist is a club founder and has been a tireless worker, volunteer and supporter of our club.  She is another part of our legacy and please make sure you all congratulate her.

This year will not disappoint, so I look forward to seeing you all at the January meeting.
