Report on our April Speaker: – Roger Griffiths “Spring from the Countryside to the Alpine”

Our April speaker, Roger Griffiths, delighted us with his presentation “Spring from the Countryside to the Alpine”.

By narrating a fast-moving video he whisked us away from our pandemic-defined lives on the Island to the countryside of England, the shorelines of Ireland, the highlands of Scotland, even the spring flower shows in Holland, before landing us back in the remote alpine settings of mainland BC.

His knowledge and his passion held our attention completely. He hopes to go on his group’s 10th Alpine week-long hike again this summer. As he says, at 75, most members are slowing down and stopping more frequently. But he IS glad that his fellow hikers are FINALLY taking an interest in flowers

If you would like to see a local alpine garden just go to Nanoose Place at the back of the parking lot on the way down to the playing field. If you want to see spring flowers including beautiful Rhododendrons, now is the time to visit Milner Gardens in Qualicum.
