October 2016 – President’s Message

With Autumn’s colours in full bloom, the smell of turkey just around the corner and Halloween on the horizon, our thoughts are beginning to focus on typical fall activities.

This month we have another full schedule of events for our members beginning with an exciting talk from local artist, Shane Wilson.  His work is internationally recognized and when you hear how his imagination is stimulated and look at the detail in his pieces, you’ll simply be amazed.  For Out and About, we’ll be hiking Newcastle Island followed by dinner at the Dinghy Dock Pub, plus we’ve got a great theatre night planned at the Bailey Studio.

This is also an important month for our club as we reflect on our upcoming Annual General Meeting in November and consider who can potentially step up to help the management team in leading us into our next year.  This is an important decision with the health of the club depending on all of us being willing to become part of a team that drives the leadership and our committee functions.

In addition to planning our own management team though, we should also be thinking how we can share the fun of PROBUS with new friends and neighbours – encouraging them to come to a meeting or join us at one of our exciting events.  The management team challenges everyone to think about who you can invite or accompany to our October meeting.

The PROBUS philosophy encourages camaraderie, association and activity; It’s all about meeting new people and engaging in a variety of entertaining activities — it begins with you, so let’s make it happen!

See you at the meeting.
