Cheese Pleases

Eric McLeanAt the July meeting, Eric McLean (owner of McLean’s Specialty Foods in Nanaimo) entertained members with a lively presentation on three French cheeses. His talk was sprinkled with interesting facts about cheese and gourmet foods and he gave some useful cheese tips such as:

Best way to store cheese – not in plastic wrap! Take it out of the plastic and wrap it in waxed paper or in special cheese papers that Eric sells.

Serving cheese in your home – use a separate knife for each cheese and take it out of the refrigerator at least an hour before serving.

At the break members were treated to three French cheeses: Compte, Roquefort, and Brie. Judging by the cheese that was eaten the fastest, the Roquefort was the most popular of the three.
